PETALING JAYA:
Moses Lim, the Singaporean actor best known for his role as mini mart owner Tan Ah Teck in the popular sitcom “Under One Roof”, passed away yesterday. He was 75.

Lim’s death was announced in a post on his Facebook page this morning.

According to the post, the award-winning bilingual comedian was also the island state’s “favourite foodie uncle”.

“Today, we don’t just mourn the passing of an actor, host, and comedian – we celebrate a true Singapore son who showed us that laughter, food, and family are the ingredients that make life beautiful,” it said.

Lim is survived by his wife, Monica, his daughters Grace and Angela, and four granddaughters.

The Straits Times reported that Lim underwent heart surgery in 2018 and was diagnosed with a slow pulse rate in late 2022.

Actor Nicholas Lee, who played Lim’s son Ronnie in “Under One Roof”, compared Lim’s death to that of a father.

“And the pain is indescribable,” he said.

“Under One Roof”, notable for its use of Singlish, first aired in 1995. The series was also broadcasted in Malaysia, Australia, Taiwan, France, and Canada.
