KUALA LUMPUR:
After 44 years in the entertainment industry, Malaysian rock icon Amy Search is set to take the stage for his first-ever solo concert, “Amy Search Magic”, at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil on April 26.

Amy – real name Suhaimi Abdul Rahman – described the concert as a “major milestone” in his illustrious music career, and expressed his eagerness to showcase a new aspect of his showmanship.

“Many had previously approached me to do a solo concert, but I always gave the excuse that I wasn’t ready. Besides, there were other challenges, including my commitment to my band Search, and I didn’t want to disrupt the group’s schedule,” he told a press conference recently.

“Then last year, I received this offer from concert director Jennifer Thompson, and I immediately accepted because I wanted a team of highly experienced creative professionals, not just anyone.”

Amy went on to explain that the timing had to be perfect for such a significant milestone. “I needed the right people and the right moment before agreeing. I want to deliver not just my music but also a piece of my soul.

“As such, the concert producer matters a great deal to me: he or she needs to understand my background,” Amy said, adding that the songs in the concert will capture the highs and lows of his decades in the Malaysian music industry.

Thompson, meanwhile, said the musicians who will accompany Amy during the show will be among the finest in the industry.

“The audience will be taken on a journey through Amy’s career, featuring hit songs and cherished memories. We promise fans an emotional and magical experience,” she concluded.
