KUALA LUMPUR:
Kuala Lumpur isn’t just about skyscrapers and street food. Whether you’re a thrill-seeker, nature lover, or just looking for a unique experience, KL has you covered.

Let’s dive into some of the coolest spots you should check out!

Berjaya Times Square Theme Park

If you’re craving a thrill ride, this iconic indoor amusement park is it. Known as Malaysia’s first and largest indoor theme park, it’s got everything from adrenaline-pumping rollercoasters to quirky, fun rides.

The Supersonic Odyssey is the star of the show – Asia-Pacific’s longest multiple-inverted roller coaster. At 800 metres long and hurtling forward at 80 km/h, it’s a heart-racing experience.

Feeling bold? Try the Spinning Orbit which seats up to 48 passengers at once, taking riders up 30 metres above ground in a sky-high spin.

But don’t worry if heights aren’t your thing. The Bubbles Express offers a whacky, high-speed spin version of the traditional merry-go-round, zipping at a dizzying 17 rounds per minute.

For a more laid-back vibe, head to Fantasy Garden, where you can crawl around Malaysia’s first and largest crochet playground.

Jumping on trampolines is a popular activity at SuperPark. (Andrea Rhiannon Edmonds @ FMT Lifestyle)

SuperPark

Located on Level 4 of Avenue K Shopping Mall, SuperPark is an adrenaline junkie’s paradise.

Originating from Finland in 2012, this indoor activity park spans 40,000 sq ft and is split into three zones – adventure, game, and freestyle hall.

Kids and adults can tackle obstacle walls, bounce on trampolines, zip across wires, or race pedal cars.

Head to the game arena, where you can smash it in the baseball nets or sink shots at street basketball.

Finally, unleash your inner daredevil at the Freestyle Hall. Skateboard, roll on the gymnastics floor or flip into foam pits.

FMT Lifestyle gave SuperPark a shot, and couldn’t get enough of the heart-racing tube slide (drag your tyre to the top, then hold on tight for the wild ride down), and the trampoline platform – bounce to your heart’s content before diving into a pit of squishy fun.

More than 100 years old, this botanical garden is the perfect spot to relax in the city. (Andrea Rhiannon Edmonds @ FMT Lifestyle).

Perdana Botanical Gardens

The oldest and largest recreational park in Kuala Lumpur, Perdana Botanical Gardens spans over 91 hectares, offering a rare green escape in the heart of the city.

Officially opened in 1889, as the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, it underwent several name changes before adopting its current title in 2011. From picnics and leisurely jogs to flora-filled exploration, there’s plenty to do here.

Nature enthusiasts will adore the orchid garden with its 800 species of orchids and the hibiscus garden, which celebrates Malaysia’s national flower.

Don’t miss the towering mahogany trees, some over 300 years old, and the herbarium, a treasure trove of dried plant specimens.

Whether you’re on a solo stroll or a romantic date, this park is a breath of fresh air – literally.

Visit Aquaria KLCC to immerse yourself with underwater wildlife. (Andrea Rhiannon Edmonds @ FMT Lifestyle).

Aquaria KLCC

Dive into the wonderful world of marine life at Aquaria KLCC, Southeast Asia’s top oceanarium located beneath the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.

Spanning 60,000 sq ft, this state-of-the-art aquarium is home to over 5,000 aquatic and land-bound creatures, all 250 different species.

The Living Ocean Tunnel is the star of the show – a 90-metre transparent walkway that brings you face-to-face with sand tiger sharks, giant stingrays, marine turtles, and schools of vibrant fish.

Before heading to the tunnel, check out the adorable Asian small-clawed otters, the massive arapaimas in the Flooded Forest, and the glow-in-the-dark moon jellyfish in Station Aquarius. Pro tip: Stick around for the feeding sessions!

Create your own pewter dish at Royal Selangor. (Andrea Rhiannon Edmonds @ FMT Lifestyle).

School of Hard Knocks – Royal Selangor

Step back in time at Royal Selangor’s School of Hard Knocks, where you’ll get hands-on with Malaysia’s tin mining heritage. Founded in 1885 by Yong Koon, one of Malaya’s earliest pewtersmiths, Royal Selangor’s pewter creations are world-renowned.

Marvel at the largest tankard – a Guinness World Record holder – created to commemorate the company’s centenary in 1985, and the impressive 9.1-metre-tall twin towers made of 7,062 pewter tankards.

The real fun begins at the School of Hard Knocks when you grab a hammer and create your very own pewter dish.

From casting and hammering to moulding and engraving, you’ll learn traditional techniques using time-honoured tools. The best part? You can personalise your creation by engraving your name. Knock out all your stress, and take home your handcrafted masterpiece, along with an apron and a certificate of achievement.
