They will perform at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, Bernama reported.
Sarawak tourism, creative industry and performing arts minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah described it as a milestone for Sarawak’s entertainment and tourism sectors.
“I am pleased to announce that Boney M has chosen Kuching as the first stop of their 50th anniversary tour,” he said today.
Formed 50 years ago, Boney M became globally renowned for blending pop, disco and reggae with iconic hits such as “Rasputin”, “Daddy Cool”, “Ma Baker” and “Rivers of Babylon”.
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see this iconic band live on stage,” Karim added, expressing confidence that such events will boost Sarawak’s appeal as a tourist destination.
The state aims for its tourism sector to fully recover by next year, targeting five million visitors.
Meanwhile, organising chairman Zaid Zaini said the event will also feature Sarawak’s own At Adau as the opening act.
Known for their unique fusion of traditional sape and modern instruments, Adau will play disco-inspired sets to complement the retro vibes of Boney M.
Tickets for the concert are now available at www.frontrow.asia and Swiftic’s ticketing platform.
