PARIS:
Fans of the show “Severance” are about to see their patience rewarded. With the drama’s second season due in January 2025, fans will be able to catch up with Ben Stiller and Adam Scott at the helm of the new “Severance” podcast.

The start of 2025 promises to be a busy one for “Severance” fans. Before the release of the show’s second season, scheduled for Jan 17, 2025, on Apple TV+, viewers will be able to tune in to a podcast specially dedicated to the show.

Called “The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller and Adam Scott,” the show’s director and lead actor will host this podcast that looks back at the first season.

In the style of a “rewatch podcast,” they will analyse each episode to provide previously unheard explanations.

The first two episodes of the podcast will be available from Jan 7, 2025, and will initially focus on the first episode of the thriller. For each episode of the show, a full episode of the podcast will be released daily until Jan 16.

The fun will continue with the podcast’s second season, which is already scheduled to be the subject of further episodes. These will be released every Friday, in parallel with season two of the show, which concludes on March 21, 2025.

“Severance” tells the story of the employees of Lumon Industries, a mysterious company that uses a medical procedure to dissociate its employees’ work memories from those of their personal lives.

Mark Scout (Adam Scott), a recently bereaved employee, gradually uncovers Lumon’s dark secrets, as he and his colleagues begin to question the nature of their work and the company’s true intentions.

As the mysteries deepen, the characters must navigate between their fragmented identities and the growing dangers that surround them.

The employees, called “Innies” during their working hours, become “Outies” once their day is over, forgetting everything about their professional lives, and vice versa.

Jon Stewart as a guest?

In addition to its hosts – director and producer, Ben Stiller, and lead actor, Adam Scott – the podcast will welcome Dan Erickson, the series’ creator, as well as executive producer, Jackie Cohn, not to mention the show’s other stars, Zach Cherry (Dylan), John Turturro (Irving) and Britt Lower (Helly).

According to Variety, celebrity fans of the show will join the discussions, including the Emmy-winning host and comedian, Jon Stewart, of “The Daily Show.”

“We have severed ourselves from the world for five years making this show. While we have no memory of what happened during that time, we thought we should do a podcast for all the Innies who will have no recollection of watching, in an attempt to reintegrate them with their memory of the show,” Stiller and Scott said in a joint statement, reported by Variety.

“We’re happy not to be working with Lumon Industries on this podcast and instead to be bringing it to the world with Audacy Podcasts, who would never send us to the break room.”

Audacy’s Pineapple Street Studios already produces podcasts for other hit shows such as “Chernobyl,” “And Just Like That…” and AMC’s latest adaptation, “Interview with the Vampire.”

The “Severance” podcast will arrive almost three years after the launch of the first season landed in 2022 on Apple TV+.

The hard-to-bear wait for viewers is driving them to follow a popular trend. For this show, as for others, viewers no longer hesitate to revisit the previous season in order to recall the details of the story and make the wait for the next season’s release less arduous.

Links between the worlds of TV shows and podcasts continue to grow. Indeed, TV production studios have realised the value of producing podcasts to maintain their audience’s attention and interest.

According to a study by Sounds Profitable in partnership with Signal Hill Insights, more than half of Americans would like to listen to a podcast about their favorite TV series.
