The Lenovo Auto Twist AI PC features a novel automatic screen rotation function, thanks to an AI-controlled motorised hinge.
This allows the laptop’s display to follow the user’s movements so that they can always keep an eye on the screen, wherever in the room they may wander.
In practical terms, this means that users could continue watching a video without having to press pause, all while moving around or doing something else.
Similarly, users could take part in a video call without necessarily having to stay seated in front of their PC.
But that’s not all. The device also responds to numerous voice commands spoken in natural language, whether to close the laptop or switch it between tablet mode and laptop mode.
Finally, the PC can also close itself when there’s no one in front of it.
For the moment, the Lenovo Auto Twist AI is just a prototype, but the Chinese manufacturer – the world’s leader in PC sales – could one day build a production model integrating this technology.
Indeed, in 2020, Lenovo was the first PC manufacturer to release a laptop with a folding screen, the ThinkPad X1 Fold. The idea has since been taken up by many others.
This year’s IFA is an opportunity for PC manufacturers to present their first AI-boosted PCs, thanks in particular to new dedicated processors (Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite and Plus) and the Copilot AI assistant integrated into Windows.
