This approach emphasises the development of well-rounded individuals by nurturing their intellectual, emotional, and social capabilities.
The college creates a vibrant learning environment where students are encouraged to explore their passions, engage in extracurricular activities, and cultivate essential life skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for future challenges.
The college’s calibre in delivering these offerings is evident for two alumni who are making their way towards a brighter future.
Excelling in academics and extracurricular activities
Victor Ngow, a recent Cambridge A-Level graduate, is heading to Harvard College to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.
Ngow’s path to one of the world’s most prestigious institutions was enriched by his active involvement in extracurricular activities.
These included the Taylor’s Debate Club, where he served as the equity officer and treasurer, and the National Chemistry Challenge he participated in, in which his team created a prototype for water purification and electricity generation, highlighting his innovative spirit and leadership qualities.
Ngow credits the supportive environment at Taylor’s College for his success in making it into Harvard College. The University Placement Services (UPS) played a pivotal role, guiding him through the complex application process, from essay writing to interview preparation.
Additionally, his lecturers guided him in his academics, helping him navigate the demanding application process for Harvard and Stanford, where he was also accepted.
“My lecturers helped to write the recommendation letters, and this was one of the things Stanford said they liked about my application. They were also very supportive of my applications.”

Another alumnus, Nicole Kiew Ting Yi, has an equally inspiring story to tell.
After facing financial difficulties and leaving previous institutions, Kiew worked tirelessly for four years before enrolling in the Foundation in Design (FID) programme at Taylor’s College. Her resilience and passion for design earned her the Best Student Award.
Beyond the classroom, Kiew was actively involved in BizPod, the college’s entrepreneurship accelerator, which provided the resources and mentorship she needed to launch her digital travel agency, MARi.
With BizPod, she was able to launch MARi through the BizPod x Amadeus’ Mini Accelerator Programme: Travel Tech Edition earlier this year.
“The RM2,000 grant was a good start for any start-up, and the team from BizPod has continuously given my team, BizzyB, many other funding opportunities.
“There’s an upcoming RM10,000 seed funding happening very soon! One of my dreams is to actually be a founder of my own business, and BizPod has been the ‘lily pad’ for me as a frog, allowing me to jump higher and higher as I go.”
Kiew is also an Events Director at the Google Developer’s Student Club.
“Having this international club was crucial as I got to learn how to develop technology despite not being a student of computer science/software engineering. Having these clubs allows me to do even better in my studies,” she said.
Scholarships have also been particularly vital to Kiew’s academic development as she continues her tertiary education at Taylor’s University.
“Receiving the Taylor’s University Merit Scholarship 2024 has been essential. I’m so proud to be a Taylorian, and I’m always excited about representing Taylor’s in any way that I can,” said the Bachelor of Design in Creative Media student.
Kiew’s journey demonstrates how Taylor’s College not only educates but also empowers students to turn their aspirations into reality.
