For one golden retriever, life couldn’t get any better. Sophie is not just the centre of attention at home but also at Kozie Krafts, a pet-friendly creative space in Subang Jaya.
City folks love to swing by not just for crafting, but also to indulge in cuddles with this one-year-old furry sensation — sometimes making the trip just to spend time with her.

Stephanie Aeria, who brought home Sophie in June last year, shared that it’s the dog’s incredibly contagious, friendly personality that makes her so adorable.
“She’s just so lovable. I love watching how excited she gets when she sees people.” In fact, Stephanie described Sophie as “super friendly, sometimes, overly so!”
Stephanie and her husband had always wanted a dog and when they stumbled upon Sophie, they were instantly smitten with her charm.
“When we went to view the dogs, Sophie was one of the older ones there at three months old, versus the younger puppies. Somehow, she stood out,” recalled Stephanie.

While it may have started with those sad puppy eyes, Sophie’s clever and cheeky side soon emerged.
“If she wants to try the food we’re eating, she will slowly come closer to it and pretend to just sit next to it, waiting for the right moment to grab a taste.”
In fact, calling her pampered is hardly an exaggeration, especially when she’s out on her walks.
“When she refuses to move, we end up either having to carry her back, coaxing her until she decides to leave, or giving up and waiting,” Stephanie said with a chuckle.

Despite her stubbornness and cheekiness, Sophie also makes for quite a laughing riot.
“She’s actually quite clumsy,” Stephanie shared. “She tends to knock into things and fall off the couch easily. We’ve caught her tripping or falling, then looking confused and continuing to run again.”
There’s this one tale Stephanie just had to share about Sophie in her puppy days.
It all started when they cooked some homemade bone broth with chicken feet and carcasses. After bottling the broth, the leftover bones were dumped in a bag and left on the kitchen counter.
“Little did we know that Sophie could already reach the kitchen counter when standing up. We found the entire bag of bones on the floor and Sophie with a satisfied look on her face after eating most of it.”

Having a young golden retriever as a pet is truly like having a forever toddler — attention-grabbing, home-destroying, and always craving playtime.
“She loves ripping papers, tissue and cardboard to shreds. She also needs to sit in the middle of the sofa between my husband and I.”
From craving constant belly rubs to running around with her squeaky toys, there’s never a dull moment with this energetic canine.
“When she gets excited, she likes to grab her leash and run around. It’s like she’s walking herself. She’s quite funny!”
Today, whether at home or at work in Kozie Krafts, Stephanie has a thousand reasons to smile, all thanks to young Sophie. With many more happy years together, Stephanie reaffirmed: “She’s just such a joy to be around, and she teaches us to be more loving too.”
