10 highly anticipated movies to watch out for

New releases in the coming US summer months include sequels such as 'Deadpool 3', 'Inside Out 2', 'Despicable Me 4', and 'Bad Boys: Ride or Die'.

Cinephiles are eagerly awaiting some of the biggest blockbusters of the year and, once again, studios and fans are betting big on sequels, with “Deadpool 3,” “Inside Out 2”, and “Despicable Me 4” figuring prominently among the top 10 most eagerly awaited films.

Fandango has unveiled the results of its annual “Moviegoing Trends & Insights” study, surveying more than 6,000 moviegoers to determine the most anticipated films of the coming US summer months from May to July.

The third opus in the “Deadpool” saga is one of the most talked-about on social networks. Titled “Deadpool & Wolverine”, the film stars Ryan Reynolds but will see Hugh Jackman reprise his role as the man with the adamantium claws .

On social networks, the bromance between these two actors in real life continues to fuel interest among fans. The action-comedy directed by Shawn Levy is due for release on July 26 in the US.

Another sequel also in the sights of moviegoers is “Bad Boys: Ride or Die”. The sequel starring the iconic duo of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will hit the big screen on June 7.

Meanwhile, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”, the 10th opus in the cult franchise, makes its North American debut on May 10.

And fans young and old alike can’t wait to catch up with the little yellow characters from “Despicable Me” once more, with a fourth opus due for release on July 3.

Other highly anticipated titles include Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” and the prequel to the horror film directed by John Krasinski, “A Quiet Place: Day One”. This time penned by Michael Sarnoski, it will feature Lupita Nyong’o and “Stranger Things” breakout star Joseph Quinn, and is scheduled to open on June 28.

Elsewhere, Ryan Gosling (“Barbie”) and Emily Blunt (“Oppenheimer”) share the bill for “The Fall Guy”, a fast-paced comedy in cinemas on May 3.

There’s also the horror film “The Watchers”, directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and starring Dakota Fanning, scheduled for US release on June 14.

The orange cat who hates Mondays will be treated to yet another adaptation in “The Garfield Movie” on May 24.

Finally, “Borderlands”, directed by Eli Roth and starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Hart, completes the list – further proof that video games are becoming a key source of material for films.
