SHAH ALAM:
What happens when you combine girl power with horsepower? A high-speed, exciting way to celebrate Women’s Day of course!

Thanks to KeteMotoMy and Muse Craft Motorsports, ladies in the fast lane had a unique opportunity to celebrate and empower each other, redefining the thrilling world of fast cars.

Established in 2021, KeteMotoMy is an automotive media company that unites car and bike enthusiasts from across the country.

After two years of hosting their annual Women’s Day event, this past weekend marked its third instalment themed “Girl Power” – one that drew a significant turnout of women drivers.

Gathered from every corner of Malaysia – Johor, Penang, Perak, and beyond – around 100 women drivers celebrated the unstoppable spirit that drives them all.

All-women teams, driving a fleet of Mustangs, Honda Citys, and Myvis to name a few, formed a striking convoy that turned heads on the road.

Starting from the Denai Alam R&R along the Dash Highway, these women embarked on a 20-minute drive to Muse Craft Motorsports in Setia Alam.

It was a sight to behold that sunny day as each team proudly stood beside their parked vehicles and team flags.

Speaking to FMT Lifestyle, KeteMotoMy’s founder Raj Krishna Roshan Kanasan cited his mother and two sisters as the inspiration behind the initiative besides his passion for automobiles.

“Looking at Malaysian car culture, I felt that we needed more exposure and opportunities for lady drivers and bikers, as the community is honestly, majority men.”

For Raj, his love for automobiles started at a young age in Kulim, Kedah.

“Every Friday, my father would take me to the Pasar Malam, where they were selling hot wheels cars. Every week I would buy one, and over time I had a huge collection of about 400 hot wheels.”

Raj’s craze for cars never waned. Today, he admits that this feeling knows no gender. “From what I’ve seen, many women have the same passion for cars as guys. And they inspire other women to take part.”

Raj pointed out that beyond their regular jobs, some women in the group have even ventured into automotive engineering or launched their own car paint workshops.

Among the teams at the event was one named Veeknd, led by Dianne Uma Daniel, 28, whose team was composed mainly of her family members, including her mother.

“I always get this reaction, as a female, ‘You are doing boy’s stuff. You are racing.’ Now with my Triton, people ask ‘why are you using a 4×4? Is that necessary?’”

But that hasn’t stopped her; thanks to the support of her family and friends, including men.

Meanwhile, the ladies of the Mustang Club Malaysia team shared with FMT Lifestyle their profound love for racing. One of them, Raudah Abidin, drove all the way down from Penang to participate in the event.

“When we hold that steering wheel, we become different people. We feel like our limits have expanded, and our dreams are big too,” said Raudah.

What’s more, Raj’s support for women extends beyond cars, having recently launched an endeavour to empower female entrepreneurs.

“I initiated ‘KeteMotoMy Supports’ to support women in various businesses such as baking, nails, and bridal makeup.”

Providing them with exposure and a platform to promote their businesses, Raj revealed that some have already received inquiries from potential clients.

Saying he hoped to organise more automotive events on a larger scale, Raj remained optimistic about the future of women in the industry.

“To lady drivers and bikers out there, please do join our future events. It doesn’t matter what car or bike you drive. Just come, network and meet other like-minded women.”

As FMT Lifestyle wraps up this celebration, do remember: behind every impressive car that races ahead, there might just be a woman confidently steering her own path through this world.
