PETALING JAYA:
Are you on the lookout for exciting ways to teach your children important life lessons? If you are, there’s a new, fun place in town – Malaysia’s first smoothie gym for kids by Goodday Charge.

Located in KidZania Kuala Lumpur, the gym, which was launched on Saturday, is the place where children can make their own smoothie – by pedalling a stationary bicycle!

KidZania Kuala Lumpur offers an interactive city for children with roleplay setups such as police and fire stations as well as an aviation academy. It even has its own currency known as KidZos, which children can earn by performing certain tasks.

Meanwhile, other activities will require kids to spend their “money” – in short, very much like how the real world works!

The smoothie gym introduces the element of fitness and nutrition as a rewarding part of a person’s day. Here, one will find five bicycles, each with a blender attached.

Children are required to pedal to power the blender’s dynamo and make two delicious milk smoothies – the Goodday Charge chocolate milk smoothie or Goodday Milk strawberry smoothie.

Open to kids aged seven and above, each child will be given a safety vest, hair net and gloves before they begin. They will also be briefed on the benefits of the milk, which is packed with essential nutrients, particularly vitamin B, to provide sustainable energy levels.

In real life, this would be akin to spending your salary on a gym membership, with a healthy smoothie as a reward after each workout!

Among the excited children at the launch was 10-year-old Sharifah Puteri Alma Syed Putra Khusairi. “I became slightly tired halfway through pedalling,” she confided in FMT Lifestyle.

Nevertheless, the crowd cheered her on, giving her the boost she needed to pick up her speed and successfully complete her smoothie.

After all the hard work, she said she felt “excited” to enjoy her beverage. “It was delicious,” she said with a smile, adding that the experience has taught her the value of money.

On top of providing a window into working life, Goodday Charge – a product under Etika Sdn Bhd – hopes the experience will teach children the value of investing time and money in habits that bring positive value to their lives.

In a statement, Amy Gan, Etika vice-president of marketing, said: “Goodday’s smoothie gym is the first of its kind in Malaysia, which will help promote what we believe to be a good representation of a healthy adult life.

“Namely, teaching children the value of work by earning KidZos, the benefits of exercise by pedalling to blend their smoothies, and then a reward at the end of the day that does not compromise on your health”.

Speaking with FMT Lifestyle, Gan added: “It is perhaps not something taught in a syllabus, but children need to understand the concept of earning, spending, and having an overall healthier lifestyle.”

During the launch, mayor of KidZania Ali Hassan also handed over a “Key to the City” to Gan, officially welcoming Goodday Charge as a “Purpose Partner” – those who provide children with engaging activities and skills at KidZania that can be applied in real life.

“We commend Goodday Charge’s efforts today, which aligns with our core values. By establishing this gym, we hope not only to get children pedalling towards a better future, but also to educate parents on the benefits of providing wholesome and balanced development,” said Ali.

“Kidzania Kuala Lumpur welcomes all children to come and experience Goodday’s first smoothie gym themselves,” he concluded.
