The Suite life: get a boost of Wellness at Sunway’s high-tech Resort

Sunway Resort Hotel, the crown jewel among hotels in Sunway City, recently underwent a refurbishment exercise and upped the ante by introducing a brand-new look to its South African-inspired design.

Impressively, it has retained its five-star rating with the incorporation of technology that will keep guests happy. Enter the lobby and you are greeted by an awe-inspiring sculpture, where gold tones against black marble help you feel relaxed in an atmosphere cocooned from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Upon checking in, you are whisked away to one of the numerous rooms or suites, depending on your budget. There are different themed suites, dedicated family spaces, and reimagined leisure facilities for you to retreat to.

One highlight here are the Wellness Suites, tucked away at the corner of each floor. Limited to just six suites in the entire resort, fitness enthusiasts or those who simply want to spend some quality “me time” might want to check themselves into one of these.

Upon entering the Wellness Suite, the blackout curtains and shades automatically draw open, letting natural light in while providing you with a panoramic view of Sunway Lagoon. It’s a fine place for viewing fireworks in private without having to deal with massive crowds.

Step into the bathroom and you will enter an enclave of personal relaxation. The toilet seat automatically raises and disinfects itself for added peace of mind during the post-pandemic era.

The best part? You won’t mind spending time on the porcelain throne since it is heated, providing you with a comfortable experience on every single visit.

A bathtub and separate shower area give you options on how you wish to wash the day away with the provided premium Balmain toiletries. If you’re a news addict or have a live sports match you simply cannot afford to miss, the bathtub faces a 21-inch television for your viewing pleasure!

Turning in for the night is always an adventure with the provided turn-down service. For fussy sleepers, you will be pleased to know the pillow menu offers selections such as bamboo charcoal, ginkgo leaves, and natural buckwheat.

A Sleepace Aroma Sleep Light plays back relaxing sounds to ease you into dreamland, while a sleep tracker can be set up to measure your quality of rest the next morning. While you snooze, keep your smartphones and headphones charged with wireless charging pads flanking each side of the bed.

All lights in the Wellness Suite have a motion sensor, which is perfect for those who can only sleep in absolute darkness. There is little risk of stubbing your toe against wayward luggage or furniture when you wake up in the middle of the night, as the lights will gently illuminate strategic spots while you make your way to relieve yourself.

Likewise, upon not detecting human movement after a while, the power supply automatically cuts off as part of the resort’s environmentally friendly focus.

Ever wanted to work out in the comfort of your hotel room without sharing space with others at the gym? The Wellness Suite is perfect for this, as it is equipped with the latest health and wellness technology including state-of-the-art Technogym equipment like a treadmill.

Accompanying that is a Technogym Bench with an all-inclusive functional training kit comprising elastic bands, hexagon dumbbells, weighted knuckles, a training mat, and wellness ball, all lit up by a multicoloured LED ceiling light with touch controls that makes colour selection easy.

You can enjoy your favourite shows from the bed with a 55-inch TV or choose to catch up on the world’s events while working out with the 43-inch TV located right next to the treadmill.

For a heavier workout, you can always head down to the gym located by the pool, which sports a wider range of equipment. There, the treadmill section overlooks an artificial waterfall that forms a dreamscape for that added touch of relaxation.

Once you’re done, there is always the sauna and steam bath to help soothe those sore muscles.

Taking the holistic approach to wellness by appealing to your different senses, the culinary offerings at Gordon Ramsay Bar & Grill continue to draw guests who want to enjoy an upscale dining experience, while Black Tap delivers a laid-back setting for you to chill.

For a quick bite, head to the Link Café; while larger appetites can be satiated at the Sunset Terrace, which offers all-day dining and buffet options with an expansive view of the swimming pool.

Those who want an upmarket experience can always book a room with club floor benefits, where you can retreat to the 20th Club. This lounge provides bespoke services and panoramic views of the area, pampering you with complimentary afternoon tea, evening cocktails, and a private check-in and check-out experience.

So, a family-friendly resort or a business hotel? Sunway Resort caters to both demographics brilliantly. Never mind the strategic location with shopping and culinary choices aplenty: the cutting-edge tech in its rooms places it heads and shoulders above competitors in the vicinity.
