To help bolster the online growth of aspiring micro-entrepreneurs, TikTok Shop partnered with Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan (YWP) to channel the proceeds from TikTok Shop’s 11.11 LIVE Showdown to 30 micro-entrepreneurs.
Established in 1986 and chaired by the federal territories minister, YWP aims to uplift low-income and underprivileged communities in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
The programme serves as a stepping stone for micro-entrepreneurs by providing vital seed capital, government agency support, and developmental incentives that will initiate and grow their business on TikTok Shop.
Nur Azre Abdul Aziz, TikTok Shop Malaysia’s partnerships lead, said: “TikTok Shop is committed to making a meaningful social and economic impact to support local micro- and small businesses in Malaysia.
“By partnering with YWP, we continue to work towards contributing to a healthy and inclusive digital economy that empowers Malaysian micro-entrepreneurs across the nation.”

The collaborative effort between TikTok Shop and YWP culminated in an on-ground donation handover ceremony, a forum panel, and a sharing session by TikTok Shop creators and sellers.
The donation handover ceremony was attended and officiated by YWP trustee Gulam Muszaffar Gulam Mustakim; merchant ecosystem development head at TikTok Shop, Mun Wei Siew; and Wangsa Maju MP Zahir Hassan.
“At YWP, we, alongside our strategic partners, aim to ensure that the people of the Federal Territories are assisted in the form of education, entrepreneurship assistance, disaster relief, health and others,” said Zahir.
“We would like to express our deepest appreciation and congratulations to TikTok Shop and all the strategic partners who were involved for their commitment to organise this beneficial Dialogue with Micro-Entrepreneurs 2023 TikTok Shop in collaboration with YWP today.”

TikTok Shop also partnered with Unifi Business, Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Berhad, and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation for seller incentives and stimulus plans that will help these micro-entrepreneurs scale and sustain their businesses.
Popular TikTok Shop creators and sellers, such as Risma Wani Ridwan (@mamafattah91), Noor Hazwani Hamzah (@vicky.littlewolf) and Muhammad Faiq Izaan (@budokkelate1), also took the initiative to offer tips and insights to aspiring micro-entrepreneurs.
“I’m grateful for the unwavering support from TikTok Shop. The platform has been a game changer, offering me a nurturing environment to thrive. The tools and opportunities available on the platform stand as a catalyst for growth,” said Faiq.
“Don’t worry – just go for it. Sometimes, you may not be certain of what to say online, but you’ll definitely figure it out.
“You also need to be consistent. Do it every day, so you can generate brand awareness and gain followers and customers,” he added.
All in all, the programme reaffirms TikTok Shop’s commitment to supporting local micro-entrepreneurs.
“Our dedication to empowering local businesses in the digital realm is our top priority, and we look forward to continuing our efforts and initiatives for societal uplift,” said Nur Azre.
