In a world where busy schedules and distractions abound, it’s essential for couples to find creative ways to stay connected. To that end, the “777 method” could be the ideal solution for rekindling the flame.
Based on a schedule of seven days, seven weeks and seven months, this tactic invites partners to rediscover the pleasure of spending time together, alone, through carefully planned moments.
The idea is to meet up for a date every seven days, whether it’s over dinner, coffee, or a drink, to maintain dialogue and closeness.
Then, every seven weeks, the couple should try to get away overnight. Whether in a cozy hotel or a family haven, the idea is to break away from everyday life and rediscover each other in a different setting.
Finally, every seven months, it’s a good idea to take a vacation together. This can be tricky for some, not least because of financial constraints; but the idea of getting away from everyday life, even for a short time, can be beneficial for a relationship.
Psychotherapist Lucy Beresford underlines the importance of these moments of alone time, “especially when there are other demands – work, kids, elderly parents – there needs to be even more effort to reconnect as a couple”, she told Metro UK.
“You can go on a date or a holiday with your partner, but if they spend the time disrespecting you or constantly on their phone, that’s not going to improve your relationship,” she pointed out.
Of course, the 777 method is a guide, not a rigid formula: the quality of time spent together takes precedence over frequency. Beresford recommends daily actions such as sending short messages or sharing morning routines: simple but essential actions to strengthen the connection with your partner.
