A first for the NGO, the fundraiser will take place at Kompleks Komuniti Muhibbah in Bukit OUG, Kuala Lumpur, and boasts a range of exciting activities. These include games for parents and children, horse riding, a friendly kabadi (Indian contact sport) match, urumi melam (drum performances), bhajan (devotional songs), and lucky draws.
Make sure you don’t fill up on food before you turn up, as the event will feature a variety of vegetarian food stalls. Enjoy mouthwatering dishes by skilled chefs and aspiring entrepreneurs from the B40 community.
The NGO is targeting 500-1,000 attendees and hopes to raise RM30,000 through this event. All you have to do is purchase coupon books worth RM10 each.
“Our goal is to raise funds to support the educational and social welfare of underprivileged communities in PPR Kampung Muhibbah,” Maamandram Bukit Jalil branch secretary Brinda Ramachandram told FMT Lifestyle.
“We believe education is a fundamental right for all, and we are committed to ensuring every child in our community has access to it. However, we face financial challenges in sustaining these initiatives, and we need your help.
“The funds raised will be used to cover operational costs, purchase educational materials, and provide scholarships for deserving students,” she explained.
“‘Ananda Sangamam’ has also created a platform for the community to start small businesses and run them during the event. We believe that empowering individuals economically will lead to a more sustainable future for our community.”

Malaysia Hindhudharma Maamandram was formed in KL in 1982 and has 32 active branches throughout peninsula Malaysia. Its objectives are to inculcate skills, knowledge and moral values to Malaysian Hindus through education, social welfare and spiritual development.
To that end, the NGO’s Bukit Jalil branch conducts tuition classes from Mondays to Saturdays for 50 primary and secondary students at its education centre at the Devi Sri Maha Mariamman Temple in Ladang Bukit Jalil.
There are also religious classes on Friday nights, with food and educational materials provided, and youth activities on Saturday evenings to build the students’ confidence and skills.
Additionally, training for adults is provided on Sundays to equip women with practical skills that could allow them to earn a living, such as saree pre-pleating and mehendi (henna body art) classes.
All in all, “Ananda Sangamam” promises a family-friendly environment that fosters a sense of community and togetherness for a worthy cause.
“We invite you to join us in making a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Your donations will not only help us achieve our goals, but also create a ripple effect in the community by inspiring others to give back,” Brinda concluded.
