Into the unknown
Meanwhile, Booking.com has revealed that travellers will also be in the mood for adventure and surprises, as they prepare to surrender to the experience and head where the wind takes them.
The platform’s annual survey of over 27,000 travellers in 33 countries and territories demonstrates how travel escapism can be a means of letting go of everyday worries and living in the moment.
More than half of respondents (52%) say they’re keen to book a trip they know nothing about, not even the destination. Similarly, 55% would like to go where the wind takes them, having no predefined plans when they set out.
Meanwhile, 69% prefer to travel with loose plans, so they can change things easily according to their mood, even if this requires great flexibility and last-minute bookings.
There are other ways to step out of the ordinary while travelling: 34% of those surveyed would not mind travelling with strangers; while 58% of parents would consider heading off on their own to take time out from everyday life.
