So how about a happy compromise? Like the pet-friendly campsite in Bentong, Pahang called Little Habitat.
Located approximately 65km from Kuala Lumpur city centre, Little Habitat is a spacious space filled with fun activities and lush greenery, making it an absolute treat for urban pets and the ‘paw’rents.
During a recent visit, Sim Casheen, 27, the founder of Little Habitat, took FMT Lifestyle on a tour around the campsite.
She said Little Habitat opened its doors in June last year and has since drawn visitors as far as Penang, Johor and Klang Valley.

The land, Sim added, was bought by her late grandfather and she had fond memories of spending time with her family members here when she was younger. But it wasn’t until 2021 that the idea of starting a campsite came about.
“I am an outdoors person in general. And my brother suggested to start a campsite here instead of going elsewhere to camp. I realised I could turn this into a business opportunity,” she said. And of course, animal-lover Sim made a point to make the spot pet-friendly!

So, what animals are allowed here? “Any animals are welcomed,” Sim shared with a laugh.
There are different types of tents available for rent, catering for one to up to four people, and they come with foam mattresses and air pillows.
The tents are comfortable and clean, perfect for a cosy night of snuggling together with your furkid.
Additionally, flysheets, as well as foldable tables and chairs are provided if you wish to chill outside or enjoy a quiet moment under the stars.

Wish to cook? Guests are free to use the cooking utensils, gas stoves and cutlery provided.
And what’s a camping experience without a barbecue? Campers can bring their own food as portable BBQ pits and instant BBQ sets are available for an additional charge.
For those who do not want to cook during their stay, English breakfast and hot pot dinner meals are available for an additional fee. The meals are non-halal, but there are pork-free options as well.
Alternatively, campers may also bring their own tents and equipment and a small fee will be charged for the use of the land and the facilities. Among the facilities at the campsite are showers with water heaters as well as phone-charging and hair-drying stations.

Fun time awaits
Being at Little Habitat is an opportune time to switch off your electronic gadgets and enjoy some good quality time with your loved ones – both humans and animals – out in nature.
You can take slow walks around the sprawling campsite, and pets who have been cooped up indoors will certainly relish being out and about! According to Sim, there are no leashing requirements as long as the animals are well-behaved and able to socialise with other animals.
Additionally, there are fishing ponds and a pet-friendly swimming pool, and the latter is where your furkids can enjoy splashing to their hearts’ content!
Other activities include badminton, ping pong and bicycle rides for both adults and kids.

While there, do drop by to say hello to the friendly and lovable resident dog, Blackie who’s always ready for a cuddle or two!
Overall, Little Habitat is a tranquil spot, and there is something heartwarming about seeing the delight on the dogs’ faces they excitedly run about exploring every inch of space.
It is precisely this that keeps Sim going. “There are no words to describe it, but it’s just a very happy thing. Seeing people having smiles on their faces and hearing their laughter: it’s just very different,” she said.
