Local news aggregator app Lumi News is ready to provide Malaysians with comprehensive coverage of the upcoming state elections.
The easy-to-use app interface has gotten several new updates, including a live chat feature, “ceramah” livestreams as well as real-time election results.
The Chat feature allows Malaysians to interact with each other, express their opinions and share in the excitement of awaiting election results together.
Lumi News Malaysia CEO, Judith Yeoh, said: “News is meant to be shared and discussed, and our Chat feature is the first step in a direction that will make Lumi News more social and bring communities closer around news.”

Voters will have the opportunity to chat with verified profiles on the app, including Syed Saddiq, Hannah Yeoh and veteran news anchor Charles Mohan.
In order for users to start chatting, they must first create a profile on the app by customising their username, display name and choosing their preferred Lumi character as their profile photo.
Stay up-to-date throughout the state elections
During the campaigning period, the Lumi News app will be livestreaming key “ceramah” videos from contesting parties and coalitions in the day. Users can watch the videos and engage with each other via the Chat bubble found in the Videos tab.
Lumi News Malaysia’s growth marketing manager Fildzah Zukifli said the team is excited to host leading “ceramah” videos from both the unity government and opposition parties across all six states for the convenience of voters.
Users can also find exclusive News Stacks published by some of Malaysia’s prominent political figures like Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Rafizi Ramli, Hannah Yeoh, Annuar Musa, Zahid Hamidi and more.
Exclusively on the Lumi News app, these News Stacks reveal what political personalities are advocating, their track records and more.
In the lead up to Aug 12, Lumi News app users can customise their notifications to receive breaking news on the states of their interest.

There will also be an Elections tab featuring two main displays: Detailed and Overview.
Users can get a detailed breakdown of the vote count per party in the Detailed display, or a bird’s eye view of which coalitions or parties are leading via the Overview display.
There is also an interactive Race View, with Lumi News’ recognisable “running man” bar graph and emoji.

Lumi News garnered over one million users on its GE15 results page during polling weekend last year, and hopes to continue helping Malaysians make informed voting decisions.
The app currently hosts over 70 renowned local and international news sites on its platform, including Free Malaysia Today.
