In conjunction with the upcoming state elections, Malaysia’s leading news aggregator app, Lumi News, is partnering with 10 politicians from different parties.

Lumi News, a recent Bronze winner at the 2023 d Awards by the Malaysian Digital Association for ‘Best Digital Tech Product’, aims to connect political figures to Malaysians on important national topics that span from sports and youth, to climate change.

This collaboration will see all participating politicians such as Hannah Yeoh, Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Fahmi Fadzil and more, develop materials and express their views on select issues under News Stacks, a news compilation feature on the Lumi News app.

Besides that, the app will feature state election-special content, which will highlight live election results for all six states, official live broadcasts and live chats.

Lumi News chief executive officer Judith Yeoh said they have always believed in giving people more access to information.

“It helps us build connections with each other and open ourselves to new ideas. We are excited to launch our exclusive News Stacks and Chat feature together because this combination offers an extraordinary opportunity to foster dialogue, make people think and hopefully, bring us all a little closer together,” she said.

Fildzah Zulkifli, growth marketing manager of Lumi News, added: “It is an honour to be working with our country’s leaders – both past and present – to create content that will inspire our audience, especially our active users who rely on Lumi News daily to receive news from trusted, reliable sources.”

Live results, election news and more

Lumi News launched its News Stack feature last year as a way to compile articles and videos published by local and international media about topics of the day.

News Stacks are typically curated by the editorial team at Lumi News and made available daily with AI-generated videos and summaries.

Now, News Stacks allow politicians and lawmakers to compile their own articles, videos, thought pieces and social media posts on a particular topic, all in one feed.

The Lumi News team has also designed a user-friendly state elections page for Malaysians of all ages to access everything they need to know.

Lumi News users can also create their own profile and interact with fellow Malaysians on the app. This new feature allows users to be socially engaged and discuss current events together.

In order for users to start chatting, they must first create a profile on the app by customising their username and choosing their preferred Lumi character as their profile photo.

News for all

Lumi News makes news-reading delightful for Malaysians with its friendly interface and unique features.

The local app is currently the leading news aggregation app on Google Play Malaysia under the News & Magazines category.

Readers who prefer to discover stories in Malay and Mandarin can also find themselves an array of publishers to follow, including Berita Harian, Utusan, Sinar Harian, Oriental Daily and ATV News.

The app also carries over 25 topics of interest such as Politics, Lifestyle, Food, Tech, Entertainment, Crypto, Sports and more for users to choose from.

“Our winning formula is understanding our audience, delivering breaking news and being mindful of what’s resonating. Our team is very responsive and quick to adapt to trends and needs, resulting in frequent app improvements and thoughtful features for our users,” said Yeoh.
