The Square at Jaya One has lined-up a string of fun-filled events to celebrate their fifth anniversary of being a pet-friendly venue.
Speaking with FMT Lifestyle, Jaya One digital content executive Jack Moi said: “We’re built on the fundamental beliefs and principles of championing animal welfare and promoting responsible pet ownership in the community.”
He added that the commercial centre had worked with pet shelters, animal rescue groups and non-profit communities in the country to rehome more than 2,000 pets over the past 15 years.
It is hoped that next month’s line-up of pet-friendly events will receive as good a response from the public as in the past. So, what’s in store for furparents and their furkids this time around?
To kick off the celebrations, canine welfare initiative Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better will hold a pet adoption drive for rescued and abandoned dogs in their care – a perfect chance to give these adorable animals a second chance at life.

Visitors will also get to see exotic animals at the petting zoo by Bro’s Zoo. From ball pythons, parrots, scorpions, and bearded dragons to rabbits and hamsters, your kids will actually get to pet these cute creatures, too – how cool is that?
Like to play dress up with your pets? Then the Creative Pet Grooming Competition is designed for you. Unleash your inner artist and explore vibrant styles in grooming a fake cottony dog with pet-safe colour dyes and hair extensions. No real dogs will be harmed here!
Jaya One is also collaborating with the National German Shepherd Dog Club of Malaysia to conduct a masterclass on the breed on July 2. Attendees can learn all about the behaviour traits of this amazing family dog from Australia’s John Fenner, a highly accomplished German Shepherd judge.
Animals need downtime, too, so why not enrol yourself in the Pet Massage Therapy workshop? As a furparent, you’ll learn gentle techniques on how to give your furkid a therapeutic full-body massage.
Not only will a massage help create a deeper bond between the two of you, it’ll also aid in a pet’s recovery should they have certain health conditions.
Do you have a rescued or adopted cat? Then why not tell your story on July 8-9 during the Adoption Carnival and Cat Show? And don’t forget to bring them along too, okay?

And come July 15-16, puppyschool.my, a canine kindergarten, will join in the fun with a Pet Social Open Day.
There will be dog training classes and canine playtime like the Agility Challenge, where they can showcase their athletic abilities in an obstacle course, and the Ice Block Pool for those that like splashing about in the water.
For Hello Bazaar, it’s all about pet treats and accessories such as dehydrated snacks, wild pet chews, hand sewn bandana, bow ties, paw care essentials and more. This is all happening on July 22-23, so make sure you and your furkid are there.
Also on July 22, Paws4Safety will team up with PetMedic for the Pet Emergency Response Workshop. Furparents will be taught how to respond quickly in emergency situations, care for their pets, and prepare for recovery.
Finally, the celebrations will end on a high note with Pet Movie Day on July 23. Here’s a great opportunity to snuggle up with your furkid on a picnic mat and catch a movie together. A pet photobooth is also available so flash your biggest smile.
It’s all happening starting this weekend, so drop by The Square at Jaya One. See you there!
