PARIS:
Social network users regularly come up with all kinds of creative tips and tricks to help nourish the skin in depth, like slugging and lip basting. But these solutions aren’t always the most natural.

However, there are many simple things you can do on a daily basis to prevent your skin from being damaged by winter conditions, and it all starts with your diet.

Water, vitamins, fatty acids

Nourishing the skin doesn’t just mean spreading it with creams or oils of all kinds, but also providing the necessary nutrients for its proper functioning. And that means from the inside, as well as the outside.

What’s on your plate therefore has a major influence on your skin’s appearance, especially in winter.

Seasonal fruit and vegetables are essential for boosting skin hydration. Spinach, cabbage, pumpkin, oranges, kiwi fruit, endives, clementines and grapefruit are some of the essential foods to eat without moderation in the winter months.

But sources of omega-3, such as tuna, salmon, mackerel or sardines, also help to keep skin hydrated, as do almonds and walnuts.

Not surprisingly, drinking water and avoiding alcohol and coffee are essential in reducing the risk of dry skin.

Look to vegetable oils

Natural beauty is synonymous with vegetable oils, but you still need to choose them well.

The best is to opt for an extra virgin vegetable oil, first cold pressed, and, if possible, look for organic products.

It then remains to determine which oils will really nourish your skin in depth. The advantage is that the offer is particularly wide, with plenty of options to choose from.

Avocado, sweet almond, argan, jojoba or coconut oils – to name but a few – are perfectly suited to this purpose.

Note also that butters check all the boxes, like shea butter, which moisturises the skin while boosting suppleness and elasticity.

Stick to a good beauty routine

Contrary to popular belief, weekly scrubs and masks do not dry out the skin.

On the contrary, scrubs prepare the skin to receive care, while the latter allow it to be deeply nourished.

Masks can be applied for longer than usual, more than 15 minutes on average, for optimal hydration.

And, of course, skin must be cleansed twice a day and makeup removed properly. An essential beauty routine to keep your skin perfectly moisturised.
