To find out what lies ahead for Malaysians, FMT sat down with Jessie Lee, Soleil Trinity founder and feng shui consultant with over 20 years of experience.
According to Lee, 2023 will be a year of rapid growth, though this will be curtailed by a scarcity of resources.
As such, she warned that people will need to brace for a difficult economy, with inflation and recession near inevitable.
If you’re born in the year of the…

1. Rat (2020, 2008, 1996, …)
You will be very likeable this year to the point that you will be noticed and given opportunities to prove yourself.
“If you know how to harness these opportunities, you will have a very good year ahead,” said Lee. “This is especially so if you are in a frontline job.”
Be careful though, as the extra attention you receive may be used against you by manipulative people. “Don’t be trapped by temptation.”
2. Ox (2021, 2009, 1997, …)
“You have only one auspicious star this year, but it is a powerful one if you use it well,” said Lee.
The fortunes of the year will depend greatly on how you live your life; living an honourable and truthful life will benefit you immensely.
If you choose to live in denial and with deception, stress and worries will dog you for the rest of the year.
Hence, live a life of dignity or suffer the consequences of lies.

3. Tiger (2022, 2010, 1998, …)
You should go for a medical check-up, as chances are you may see your health impacted in some way.
Not all is lost though as you are likely to run into capable physicians who will be able to help you out.
On the career side, eyes are on you and it will pay off handsomely if you market yourself well and are willing to consider a change of work or living environment.

4. Rabbit (2023, 2011, 1999, …)
You must do what you can to keep a lid on your emotions, or they will get the better of you, warned Lee.
While you stand to benefit workwise and financially this year, your emotional health may be your stumbling block if you don’t manage work and money properly.
Students will also benefit this year, as the academic star shines on you brightly. “Challenge yourself to try something different, something new!”
5. Dragon (2012, 2000, 1988, …)
You will benefit greatly if your life revolves around men, be they colleagues or mentors, as they will help solve many issues.
Single ladies stand a good chance of getting hitched this year, though beware of impulsive, harmful relationship-ending words.
Travelling around is a strong likelihood but remember to maintain your relationships with your loved ones despite the physical distance.
6. Snake (2013, 2001, 1989, …)
You will be moving around a lot, and the more you do so, the greater the chances you will see good luck coming your way.
“Don’t stay in one place,” said Lee, adding that if you are bound to your desk, consider taking on something different for a change.
However, there’s also a strong chance you will be going through this year alone, or worse, be excluded by others.

7. Horse (2014, 2002, 1990, …)
You are going to benefit greatly if you live and work with women, as they will help you to achieve success this year.
Additionally, it will pay to be a night owl as your endeavours will be granted greater chances of success if conducted at night, when the Moon is out and about.
That said, be careful of overcommitting with tasks or investments and be willing to say “no” for your own good.
8. Goat (2015, 2003, 1991, …)
You will have to take things slow this year, literally. Taking one step at a time may just save your fortunes and even your life!
Lee warned that rushing things will have adverse consequences this year, and listed traffic accidents and get-rich scams as possible hazards.
On the bright side, if you are engaged in a creative project of sorts, you will find great success whilst honing your artistic endeavours.
9. Monkey (2016, 2004, 1992, …)
You have friends in high places, and if you know how to pull your strings right, you will be getting the help and attention you need.
“You have this power. Exercise it wisely and intelligently,” said Lee, explaining that focusing on short-term goals would be advisable this year.
However, with the benefits coming your way, chances are that you may be robbed, be it literally or metaphorically, so make safe and smart investments.

10. Rooster (2017, 2005, 1993, …)
Brace yourself. The stars are against you and 2023 will be a bumpy ride. Your emotions and mental state may be your worst enemy.
“You must keep your mindset in check,” advised Lee. “When you have that little voice in your head, check if it’s speaking from a place of positivity or negativity.”
With the sluggish economy, you stand to lose out a lot financially, so make long-term investments to keep your coffers secured.

11. Dog (2018, 2006, 1994, …)
You are in for a great year, the best even. Whatever you do, luck will be riding shotgun with you throughout the journey.
This is the year for action, so don’t rest on your laurels. Go out there, accept help if offered and succeed in your efforts.
That said, Lee cautioned against letting your victories get to your head. “If they do, chances are you will be defeating yourself in the end.”
12. Pig (2019, 2007, 1995, …)
Rather befittingly, you will benefit on the gastronomical side of things, as you will find good food and good restaurants aplenty.
On the flip side, all this feasting will lead to difficulties putting off weight and more importantly, you can expect more whispering behind your back.
Take this in your stride though, keep focused on your own goals and move forward. After all, folks talking behind your back are rarely brave enough to say it to your face.
