The Design Museum Holon, located in the city where he grew up, has been working for months on this “moving and exciting” exhibition to celebrate the life and career of the famous designer.
With all eyes currently on New York, where Fashion Week is poised to kick off on Sept 9, it is the city of Holon that could end up in the spotlight.
From Sept 15, one of its museums – the Design Museum Holon – will unveil a major retrospective entirely devoted to the life and work of Alber Elbaz, who was born in Casablanca, but settled in Holon, before heading to the Big Apple then Paris.
A cosmopolitan designer with a unique style
For several months, until the end of February 2023, the entire museum will be dedicated to the life and career of the fashion designer, who worked for Guy Laroche, Saint Laurent, and of course Lanvin, before founding his own brand, AZ Factory, a few months before his death.
The very first collection designed by Alber Elbaz for the label will be the subject of special focus in this retrospective, titled “Alber Elbaz: The Dream Factory.”
Visitors will also be able to see couture pieces, rare archive documents, objects that belonged to the French-Israeli-American designer, as well as never-before-seen photos.

And, in homage to one of the most adored and appreciated designers in the history of fashion, several ensembles from the “Love Brings Love” tribute fashion show, staged in October 2021 in Paris with the participation of some 40 fashion houses and designers, will also be showcased in “a new multimedia format specially designed for this exhibition.”
This tribute show brought together many world-renowned names in fashion, including Jean Paul Gaultier, Maria Grazia Chiuri, Thebe Magugu and Olivier Rousteing, who all designed pieces celebrating the life and work of Alber Elbaz.
An exhibition, entitled “Love Brings Love. The Alber Elbaz Tribute Show,” followed in March 2022 at the Palais Galliera museum in Paris.
The “Alber Elbaz: The Dream Factory” retrospective will be open to the public from September 15, 2022, to February 25, 2023, at the Design Museum of Holon.
