The Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera is a new breed of webcam powered by artificial intelligence. For example, people who move around while still talking are automatically tracked by the camera.
In addition to automatic framing, the camera is also able to adjust the focus on different speakers, regardless of brightness levels in the room.
This webcam is equipped with a 4K ultra wide-angle lens that covers a field of view of 136 degrees.
It also incorporates an algorithm that allows it to automatically compensate for tilt, and image distortion in real time.
This technology comes at a price, however, as the Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera is listed at US$800.
As its name suggests, this camera is primarily intended to accompany the Surface Hub 2, the giant interactive display made by Microsoft, a new version of which (the Surface Hub 2 S) is expected in the second quarter of 2022 in the United States, priced from no less than US$9,000 dollars.
Availability in Europe has not yet been announced.
