Many car owners take pride in ensuring their vehicles are in great working order. From engine maintenance to a spotless body, a well-running vehicle offers an optimal driving experience.
However, maintaining the interior cleanliness of the vehicle is not always easy, especially when dirt and sand from the soles of your shoes get carried into the car, dirtying the car floor.
That’s why high-quality and durable car mats are important to keep the interior of your car free of grime, dirt and moisture.
Trapo, an automotive accessories brand, now offers alternative solutions that are safe, hygienic and comfortable, unlike regular car mats in the market.
Founded in June 2016 by brothers Zare Lee and Tzong Lee, Trapo’s new stylish car mats include the Second Generation Trapo Hex II, Trapo Classic Mark 3 and Trapo Eco II.
Sustainable car mats
Trapo manufactures its sustainable car mats from the 300 tonnes of waste foam generated every year by its parent company Supreme, which specialises in manufacturing EVA foam for commercial, industrial and construction use.
Trapo’s car mats are made from 20% waste material and 80% raw material. The mats are available in black, grey and brown.
About 12 RPET (recycled polyethylene tetraphyte) bottles are used to form the car mat’s lining for each standard-sized Trapo mat. These are available in red, black, blue and grey, or brown and dark green, which are their latest additions.
Aside from being environmentally friendly, the surface of the mat is designed to trap dirt and mud.
Easy to clean, the car mats’ waterproof feature means your car interior is free of excess moisture. The mats also dry within just 15 minutes.
You’ll be happy to know that unlike regular PVC coil mats, Trapo’s do not emit a cloying, headache-inducing plastic odour.
Trapo Hex II

The new Trapo Hex II is a major improvement from its predecessor. Besides being durable against wear and tear, it is also 10 times more durable.
With FIX, it provides better anti-slip performance that minimises damage to your car’s floor. This is a separate anti-slip system designed specifically for the Trapo Hex II.
What’s more, Bactekiller, an antibacterial agent from Japanese patented silver ion technology, can eliminate 99.99% of bacteria with a simple rinse of water. Results may differ, subject to the duration of the car mat’s contact with water.
In an effort to be kinder to the environment, the metal plate from the previous Hex model has been upgraded to a new rice husk plate. Providing better aesthetics, it is also environmentally friendly.

Trapo Classic Mark 3

Just like the Trapo Hex II, this mat can eliminate 99.99% of bacteria once rinsed with water.
There is also no unpleasant odour of rubber, a common feature of regular car mats. As it is easy to clean, no bad odours will linger on the car mat, either.
The Trapo Classic Mark 3 has an improved anti-slip function thanks to the Trapo Velcro 2.0.

Trapo Eco II

The most affordable car mat so far, the Trapo Eco II is easy to clean and helps hide dust.
The Trapo Eco II has a flexible padding as an add-on feature that can be placed anywhere on the mat and is easily removed by hand.
