PARIS:
Wing, Alphabet’s drone delivery service, has announced that it will soon pass the 100,000-mark for drone deliveries.

This is an important symbolic step before expanding its service everywhere that it is legally possible.

Half of these deliveries were made in Logan, near Brisbane, Australia, where Wing has been experimenting with its technology for two years now.

Most of the deliveries have been very light, consisting of items such as snacks or even just coffees.

The pace of the deliveries has now become quite steady, with 4,500 deliveries made to Logan in just one week in early August.

Wing’s drones, with a one-meter wingspan, are capable of flying at speeds of up to 110 km/h, covering approximately 20 km and carrying a package weighing up to 1.5 kg.

For the moment, Wing’s presence is largely in Australia and the United States, always across small zones through various local experiments. The company now offers a fast, reliable, on-demand service.

In the long term, Wing clearly aims to establish itself all over the world, but will nevertheless have to comply with various local legislations concerning drone flights.
