The kit allows computers to be recharged automatically when placed on a special mat. This solution should be available commercially towards the end of the year.
The Go Wireless Charging Kit consists of a charging receiver to be connected via USB to a computer and a narrow mat to be placed under the device.
According to Lenovo, the system will be able to charge most non-touch 13- or 14-inch laptops. It does not use the popular Qi standard of wireless transfer, but the “Power by Contact” wireless charging technology from French startup Energysquare.
While wireless charging for devices has become increasingly popular, no such solution has yet been developed on a large scale for computers. Lenovo’s initiative offers users greater portability and freedom of movement.
This kit is part of Lenovo’s new “Go” range of accessories and will be priced at US$139.99 (RM580).
