FMT in partnership with The Global Institute For Tomorrow (GIFT) brings you a Covid-19 “healer” from Sudan.

Abdel Hafeez, 23, studies law in Khartoum, Sudan.

As Covid-19 began to spread in Sudan, and with government-imposed lockdowns, Abdel returned to his camp in El-Fasher, which houses many refugees and victims of civil and tribal conflict.

Abdel returned to the camp to spread awareness on Covid-19 to the community. He works especially close with children and the elderly.

He is constantly involved with trying to obtain not just masks and hand sanitizers, but also subsidies from local and international organisations to help those in the camp.

Despite the many challenges and difficulties, he faces them all with gregariousness and his trademark broad smile.

Mohammed Faisal is a Medical student born in Saudi Arabia. His interest lies in street photography and he has been working as a freelancer. View his portfolio here.

‘The Other Hundred Healers’ is an initiative by the non-profit organisation GIFT. The 240-page, full-colour, hardcover book can be purchased here at US$40 per copy for a minimum order of 20 copies.
