The talented 27-year-old graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with a degree in fine arts, majoring in painting.
He told FMT that he painted the portraits of the two leaders to show his respect for and appreciation of all frontliners in the battle against Covid-19. Both the King and Noor Hisham were voices of calm when the crisis was at its peak early this year.
It took only two days for this skilful artist to complete each painting.
“I began working on the King’s portrait on March 7 and completed it the next day. The Noor Hisham painting is more recent. I began working on it on June 27 and completed it the next day,” said Suhaimi.
The almost lifelike work can be seen on a building behind a mamak stall in Section U12, Shah Alam. Suhaimi said the owner of the building had given him permission to paint the portraits on the wall.
Alongside the two portraits are paintings of Defence Minister, Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri. They were painted by Suhaimi’s friends, Firdaus Nordin and Abdul Hadi Ramli, who are artists as well.
The mural has even caught the eye of one of the subjects. Noor Hisham tweeted: “Awesome, You guys are very talented and extraordinary. Well done.” Needless to say, Suhaimi was beaming with joy.
This project is not Suhaimi’s first artwork. He has also painted impressive murals in Terengganu, Penang, Sabah, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Kedah and Pahang.
