On a more personal level, some Malaysian families are busy buying gifts for their loved ones and friends, and charitable folk are opening their wallets and kitchens to help the needy.

This year, Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson decided to celebrate the season of giving by charitably hosting a Christmas to remember for orphans.

“Christmas is a time for us to do good and it is important to do the same for the less fortunate and disadvantaged,” Lexis Hibiscus President, Mandy Chew Siok Cheng, said at the Christmas celebration organised for orphans in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, on Thursday.

A total of 33 children from the Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-kanak Yatim dan Miskin Wawasan Port Dickson were present at the celebration.

The children were first taken on a voyage of sorts to watch the sunset on the beautiful Port Dickson beach, before being entertained with games of congkak and carom.

They were then enthralled by Lexis Hibiscus employees carolling before a giant Christmas tree.

Standing at 24 metres high with a width of 9 metres, this Christmas tree is the tallest in Port Dickson.

Anyone passing the entrance of the hotel would undoubtedly slow down or even stop to admire the tree adorned with 10,000 red, gold and silver balls as well as thousands of LED lights.

After the carolling session, a scrumptious dinner, souvenirs and gifts were given to the children, as well as RM100 each to purchase school uniforms for next year.

“Indeed, this is an annual event that will be held at Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson to bring joy to the children,” Chew said.
