There’s something pretty fishy going on in here

From Balloon Mollys, Redeye Barbs and other Barb species, this fish aquarium is a pretty sight to behold.

Here’s looking at you, Mr Balloon Molly!

Besides a “mini zoo” of hamsters, rabbits and turtles, Vivien Lim is also a self-confessed “fish fanatic” who breeds freshwater fish like the Balloon Molly, Redeye Barb and other Barb species.

The aquarium she maintains meticulously in her home is akin to a fantastical underwater world where all her fish live happily ever after.

She thinks up a new theme for her aquarium every month, happy to purchase all the necessary interior decor to make the various themes come alive.

This indigo-blue setting is one of many ‘themes’ of the aquarium at Vivien’s home.

Maintaining the cleanliness of the water and the beauty of the aquarium is easy if one has a natural love for fish and all things aquatic, Vivien says.

Her regular duties involve carefully emptying out unclean water from the tank, washing the walls and base of the aquarium both inside and out, filling it up with clean water, and checking on the filter to ensure it is in good working condition so her fish breathe clean oxygen.

Most important of all, of course, if feeding her little brood of fishies twice a day.

These Balloon Mollys are swimming over a bed of red flowers – how exquisite!
