In this second instalment, there’s even more things you can do online from learning how to code and play an instrument to reading eBooks and it’s all for free.

11. Get a curated reading and writing experience on Medium

Whether you’re looking for a platform to publish your writing or a carefully curated reading experience, Medium is your one-stop-shop for it all.

With a chic, user-friendly UI, and a growing international community, you can find topics from technology to philosophy right here.

If you’ve been keen on reading but haven’t found the right blog page to follow, then simply chose the topics/genres that interest you the most and Medium will pick articles for you on a daily basis.

That said, the website does host some exclusive articles on its platform that can only be accessed with a paid monthly subscription.

12. Edit your photos on Pixlr

Be vogue-ready with Pixlr. This online, photo-editing website allows you to edit your photographs and images at a Photoshop-level, except with relative ease. Edit everything from lighting to layering.

Project Gutenberg is an online reader’s paradise that houses a whopping 75,000+ free eBooks across genres and languages to keep the bookworm in you happy indefinitely.

14. Get high-res stock images and vectors on Freepik

Designer or not, there’s always a need for fun vectors, illustrations, and images. Spruce up anything from a presentation to your personal blog.

The graphics on Freepik can be downloaded in various sizes and formats, making it easy to use and incorporate. There’s also a premium subscription which gives access to the complete list of photos and vectors.

15. Learn to play an instrument on Yousician

With Yousician, you can access free step-by-step tutorials on how to play the guitar, piano, bass, and ukulele. The mostly free web app gives the learner instant feedback on rhythm and accuracy.

It also allows you to record and store your musical journey. That said, there is also a paid premium version of the app.

16. Learn to code on Codeacademy

Coding is a skill that has become an asset to everybody and Codecademy has you covered. With access to free courses on coding, you can start at the very beginning or pick up from where you left off at school.

The possibilities are endless. Even if not to add to your resume, learning to code can be very interesting and who knows, soon you’ll be designing websites of your own.

There’s also a premium version that can be accessed after paying a fee.

If you’re always trying to find the perfect set of hashtags to accompany your latest social media post, All #ashtag is the answer.

A shareable download link is sent to you and any other recipient you’ve listed. WeTransfer can be used to send everything from photos to audio to heavy work files.

Grammarly lets you check in both, UK and US English, and even gives suggestions when sentences might contain incorrect words and elements.

The extension can be added to your web browser to check content on all platforms, whether email or online documents.

However, although the free services are enough to correct the grammar on a basic level, you may want to go for their paid premium services for more advanced suggestions on sentence construction and other writing issues.

20. Upgrade your skills with Coursera

Coursera is an online platform that has a wide array of academic courses, offered by professors from some of the best universities around the world.

The best part? Many of the courses are free.

However, a number of specialised courses can be accessed only after paying a fee. You will also come across some courses where the learning video can be viewed for free, but you will need to pay up for graded assignments or signed certificates.
