When it comes to Indian food, Northern Indian cuisine is unfortunately the least represented in Malaysia.
While there are Mamak restaurants operating 24/7 in every commercial area, it’s difficult to find those serving Northern Indian food, in particular Punjabi dishes.
So imagine the excitement when Big Singh Chapati, a Punjabi restaurant, was spotted in SS15 of Subang Jaya.

The menu at Big Singh Chapati is pretty extensive. There are soups, salads, various types of chapati and naan, tandoor, chicken, mutton, fish, briyani, paneer (a type of cheese), vegetarian meals, and even desserts to choose from.

The butter naan (RM5) is truly superior in taste, freshly made and packed with generous amounts of buttery goodness. Pair it with any of the dozens of dishes on the menu and you’ve got yourself a winner.

Palak mutton (RM22.90) is completely different from the vegetarian palak paneer (spinach and cottage cheese) most of us are familiar with.
But this non-vegetarian variation was just as delicious and memorable – the mutton was soft and flavourful, and coupled with the spinach, it was heavenly.
Aloo Gobi Masala (RM12.90), did not disappoint either, the symphony between potato, cauliflower, onion and various spices made a harmonious play on the tastebuds.

The Masala Chicken (RM16.9) was not to be missed either as well as the Baigan Bharta (RM11.90), a type of smashed eggplant dish.
Overall, Big Singh Chapati turned out to be a precious find and definitely worth repeat visits.
