However, while ordering a wide array of dishes with plenty of fire power is neat, sometimes all you need is comfort food to satisfy your hunger in a relatively healthier fashion.
And that’s exactly what’s on the menu at Chia Yee Salted Chicken Restaurant.

The restaurant is adjacent to the much more popular Da Tuan Yuan in Bandar Baru Klang, a stone’s throw from the Bukit Raja Jusco shopping mall.
The set up is clean, simple, and with minimum fuss. The menu comes with pictures, there is ready cutlery at the table, with urns of chilli sauce strategically placed at a few condiment stations.

If there’s just two of you, get the half-salted chicken at RM20, a portion of steamed egg at RM6, and blanched choy sum at RM4.
The kampung chicken was smaller in size compared to the regular variety, but was firm, flavourful, and presumably healthier due to the bird having less fat and perhaps no growth hormones injections.
The steamed egg was done quite nicely with a hint of sesame oil.
As for blanched choy sum, well, it provided sufficient fibre, vitamin C, and colour contrast to the picture, so it did its job well.

Overall, it was a simple dinner with memorable flavours and reasonable pricing. Definitely warrants a second visit.
