Blevins partnered with friend Ben “DrLupo” Lupo against one hundred other teams of two inside the 99th floor of Chicago’s famed Willis Tower for the overnight Fortnite Battle Royale duo competition.
They competed for points based on end game placement and eliminations of other players ,with competitors who successfully eliminated Ninja receiving precious bonus points.
Team Exploit, made up of Chicago’s Trevor “Funkbomb” Siegler and New Yorker Nate “Nateehill” Hill, came out on top at 5.32am local time.
Nateehill, who met Funkbomb for the first time in person during the competition, said: “This is our first big tournament and to win it is amazing. We knew we were good and now we just have more confidence.”
Out of the 12 games played by Ninja and DrLupo, they only won two, with the hard-fought battles bringing in over 150,000 viewers on Ninja’s Twitch channel.
Ninja, 27, who is the most popular Twitch streamer, said: “I wouldn’t have a career if it wasn’t for the Fortnite Community. I had so much fun playing with one of my best friends tonight and meeting all my fans. There was some top talent in this tournament.”
He set the Twitch record for a single individual stream in March 2018 while playing Fortnite with Drake, Juju Smith-Schuster, and Travis Scott, then broke his own viewing record during Ninja Vegas 2018 in April.
