LOS ANGELES:
The Ethiopian-Canadian R&B star’s new clip is an inside look at his recent mini-album ‘My Dear Melancholy,’.

The six-song EP came as a surprise to fans, debuting at no. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it released unexpectedly on March 30, 2018.

The mini-documentary is a look at the recording process behind ‘My Dear Melancholy,’.

The video’s title is a reference to one of the tracks, called ‘I Was Never There’, which also features French techno artist Gesaffelstein.

The Weekend is shown recording vocals, playing with a synthesizer and listening to playback. Audio clips from collaborators are also included, intercut with fuzzy shots of candles, flowers and palm trees. The clip was directed by Joachim Johnson.

‘My Dear Melancholy,’ is produced by Frank Dukes and The Weeknd.
