Well, you may want to take note of the do’s and don’ts to increase your chances of landing that elusive guy.
The Star Online quoted feng shui master Jessie Lee as advising single women to toss their mandarin oranges while facing the south-east direction.
“The best time to toss the mandarin oranges is from 5.30pm until 8.59pm. You can make your wishes before you throw your mandarin orange,” she said.
It is a tradition for young, eligible ladies to toss mandarin oranges into lakes or rivers on Chap Goh Meh, which is considered the Chinese Valentine’s Day.
The women will usually write their names, and in recent times, also their phone numbers, on the oranges before throwing them, while the eligible men will try to scoop up the oranges.
It is believed that the man who picks up your orange is your Mr Right.
The practice harks back to the old days when women were not allowed to leave their houses freely. So, it was only on Chap Goh Meh, or the 15th night of the Chinese New Year, that the men could have a look at the pretty maidens who would throw oranges into the river as a gesture of their hope for a good husband.
These days, the ritual has become more of a social and fun event, with even men taking part by throwing bananas.
Lee said those born under the animal signs of the Monkey, Rooster and Ox would benefit most on Chap Goh Meh this year.
“The Horse, too, has a good chance of finding someone during the event or getting to know someone while participating in the ritual,” she said.
The Pig will not benefit directly from throwing the mandarin oranges this year as the zodiac sign clashes with the energy of the day, but you can always ask someone else to throw the oranges for you.
