Speaking to the New Straits Times, Kamal said: “This is our first film with songs by (A R) Rahman and Blaze, and our first film to be screened in the United Arab Emirates.”
Oscar winner Rahman has lent his contributions to a Malaysian film for the first time in his career, with his song “Maula Wa Sallim” featured as part of the soundtrack for “Makrifat Cinta”.
Kamal, 33, said that “Maula Wa Sallim” has so far been well-received in Malaysia, and would enter the British Broadcasting Corporation’s radio charts next week.
Indian hip-hop singer Blaze, who has worked with Rahman on multiple occasions, also made his first career contribution to a Malaysian movie by performing with Singaporean actor Adi Putra on “Duniawi”.
Rahman and Blaze are not the only stars from India to contribute to the film.
“India’s award-winning editor Praveen K. L., who worked on ‘Kabali’, is involved in ‘Makrifat Cinta’,” said Kamal.
Kamal said “Makrifat Cinta”, which cost RM4 million to make and was produced by Dhananwoodd Films Sdn Bhd, would give viewers a “total Bollywood experience”.
“Almost all ingredients that make a good Bollywood film are present – music, action, drama, comedy and character development.”
For his next movie, Kamal plans to make an action movie starring both Malaysian and Indian actors.
“Makrifat Cinta” will premiere in Malaysia on Feb 1.
