Soon Huat-Shevon power their way into French Open quarters

National mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai powered their way into the quarter-finals of the French Open after an easy win over a Scottish pair.

The world No 9 pair took just 27 minutes to beat Alexander Dunn-Julie MacPherson of Scotland 21-13, 21-10 in the second round match played at the Glaz Arena in Cesson-Sevigne, France.

This is the Malaysian pair’s third victory against their rivals in as many encounters.

In the quarter-finals, they will take on the winners of the match between Thai pair Pakkapon Teeraratsakul-Sapsiree Taerattanachai and Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping of China.

The married couple are still in the hunt for their first title this season after having qualified for two semi-finals and 11 quarter-finals so far.
