KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s top women’s squash player, S Sivasangari, made an impressive start to her 2025 US Open campaign by breezing into the second round in Philadelphia on Sunday.
The seventh seed showed her dominance on court, dispatching Egyptian Kenzy Ayman in straight games, 11-4, 11-9, 11-9, in just 21 minutes at the Arlen Specter Squash Center.
Sivasangari, 26, will face another Egyptian opponent, Sana Ibrahim, in the next round.
However, it was a disappointing day for Malaysia’s other representatives as both Rachel Arnold and Aifa Azman were knocked out in the first round.
Rachel fell to Egypt’s Fayrouz Aboelkheir, losing 7-11, 7-11, 9-11, while Aifa was defeated by world No 2 Hania El Hammamy, 2-11, 5-11, 8-11.
