Tang Jie-Ee Wei, ranked world No 4, took just 32 minutes to beat the world No 15 pair 21-15, 21-9 at the Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark. This was their second victory over the Taiwan pair in as many encounters.

In the second round, Tang Jie-Ee Wei will take on China’s Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying in the World Tour 750 event.

Also through to the second round are Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai who cruised past another Taiwanese pair, Lu Ming Che-Hung En Tzu, 21-14, 21-17 in just 28 minutes. They made amends for their first-round exit in Odense last year.

The world No 9 pair, who were semi-finalists at the championships in 2017 and 2022, will face either Denmark’s Jesper Toft-Amalie Magelund or Japan’s Yuichi Shimogami-Sayaka Hobara in the next round.
