PETALING JAYA:
National mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai may have created a badminton record of sorts with a 19-minute win in their second round tie at the Arctic Open.

They defeated England’s Karen Feng and Switzerland’s Innocenzo Santoro 21-2, 21-5 to book a quarter-final berth in the tournament played at the Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland.

This was their first match at the World Tour Super 500 event as they were given a walkover by a Scottish pair in the opener yesterday.

The true test for the world No 8 pair will be in the quarter-final tomorrow where they will face Thailand’s 3rd ranked duo Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Supissara Paewsampran.

Soon Huat-Shevon are still in the hunt for their first World Tour title this season.
