They lost to the world No 2 ranked mixed doubles pair of Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin in straight games.

PETALING JAYA:
National mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei’s hopes for a first final appearance this year were dashed by their Chinese opponents, Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin, in the semi-finals of the Japan Open today.

The Chinese world No 2 pair took just 38 minutes to beat the 4th ranked Malaysians 21-12, 21-16 at the Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo. This is the third win for Zhen Bang-Ya Xin over the Malaysian pair in their four encounters so far.

They will meet world No 5 Thai pair Dechapol Puavanukroh-Supissara Paewsampran in the final tomorrow.

Tang Jie-Ee Wei won US$13,300 (RM56,500) as semi-finalists.
