The world No 8 pair, who shocked their world No 2 compatriots Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani in the quarter-finals yesterday, were on fire as they brushed aside Japanese duo Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi 21-12, 21-14 in a match that lasted just 31 minutes.
In the final tomorrow, they will meet the winners of the match between world No 1 pair Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen from Denmark and Malaysia’s Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.
Wei Chong-Kai Wun and the 20th ranked Takuro-Yugo had a 1-1 record before this.
It will be the Malaysians’ second appearance in a Super 500 series final this year after they defeated Indonesia’s world No 4 pair Fajar Alfian-Rian Ardianto in the Indonesian Masters in January.
It also marks their eighth World Tour final so far, with three titles to their names – the Taipei Open in 2022 and 2023, and the Syed Modi International in 2022.
The duo have beaten Kim-Anders once in their two encounters so far. Against Asian champions Aaron-Wooi Yik, they have lost three of their four encounters.
