Pearly-Thinaah whip Chinese pair to enter Thai Open semis

PETALING JAYA:
National women’s doubles shuttlers Pearly Tan-M Thinaah showed devastating form to power their way into the semi-finals of the Thailand Open with an easy win over their Chinese opponents in Bangkok today.

The top seeds, who are ranked No 5 in world standing, beat scratch pair Chen Qing Chen-Wang Ting Ge 21-14, 21-11 in a match that lasted just 33 minutes.

Pearly-Thinaah will play the winners of the match between India’s Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand Pullela and Rui Hirokami-Sayaka Hobara from Japan.

This is the third semi-finals this season for Pearly-Thinaah, who are out to be the first Malaysian women’s doubles team to win a title in Bangkok.

Men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik will be squaring off with compatriots Arif Junaidi-Yap Roy King in another quarter-final later today.
