JDT maintain unbeaten record for third consecutive season

KUCHING:
Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) once again closed their Super League campaign with an unbeaten record for the third consecutive season after defeating Kuching City FC 2-0 at the State Stadium in Kuching, tonight.

JDT’s goal machine, Bergson Da Silva didn’t wait long to open account from the penalty spot in the fifth minute after Arif Aiman Mohd Hanapi was brought down.

The visitors increased their lead when Colombian-born player Romel Morales managed to score JDT’s second goal in the 26th minute.

Both JDT and Kuching City FC had their chances in the second half but failed to score goals.

With today’s victory JDT, who are the league champions this season, ended the Super League competition with 70 points and with an unbeaten record after 24 matches while Kuching City FC are in fourth place with 36 points.

The last time JDT, also known as Southern Tigers, lost in a Super League match was back in the 2021 season when they succumbed 0-1 to Terengganu FC.

Kuching City FC, who have one more Super League match remaining this season, will meet Negeri Sembilan FC on April 20.
