PETALING JAYA:
National mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai powered their way into the quarter-finals of the All England championship by defeating Scotland’s Alexander Dunn-Julie Macpherson in quick straight games tonight.

The world No 3 pair proved to be too strong for the 33rd ranked Scottish duo, winning 21-9, 21-10, in a match lasting just 25 minutes.

Soon Huat-Shevon improved on their performance at last year’s All England where they were knocked out in the second round.

The married couple – who are the top seeds in the mixed doubles event – are expected to face a tough test in the quarter-final, where they will be up against China’s Jiang Zhan Bang-Huang Dong Ping, who are in fine form in Birmingham.

National doubles pair Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and women’s doubles duo Pearly Tan-M Thinaah will be featuring in other second round action later tonight.
