PETALING JAYA: Ahmad Shapawi Ismail has been appointed the new chairman of the national athletes foundation (Yakeb), it was learnt.
The former national sports council (NSC) director-general replaces Noorul Ariffin Abdul Majeed.
Shapawi retired as NSC chief in 2023 after a 35-year service.
Noorul’s term ended today after six years at the helm. He was appointed Yakeb chairman in 2019 after serving as a board member from 2016.
The youth and sports ministry is expected to announce the names of the 10 board members soon.
