4 pairs enter Indonesia Masters quarter-finals

Three mixed doubles pairs and one men’s duo have booked their berths in the quarter-finals.

All three mixed doubles pairs and a men’s duo entered the quarter-finals of the Indonesia Masters in Jakarta today.

Mixed doubles shuttlers Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai began the day on a high by easily disposing of home pair Marwan Faza-Aisyah Salsabila Putri Pranata 21-16, 21-9.

The lower-ranked Indonesians were no match for the world No 4 Malaysian pair, who won in 28 minutes.

Top mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei beat another home pair Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu 24-22, 21-14.

Fellow mixed doubles pair Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin had a harder time, coming from behind to defeat India’s Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto 18-21, 21-15, 21-19.

Men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik meanwhile defeated Lu Ming Che-Tang Kai Wei from Taiwan 21-16, 21-16 to advance to the quarter-finals.

Other Malaysians who will be playing in the second round today are men’s doubles pairs Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong, Low Hang Yee-Ng Eng Cheong, and Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun.

Women’s doubles pairs Pearly Tan-M Thinaah and Go Pei Kee-Teah Mei Xing as well as women’s singles shuttler K Letshanaa will also be playing their last 16 matches.
