The world No 2 pair were stretched to three games before overcoming the South Korean pair of Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae 21-15, 13-21, 21-16 in a match that lasted 52 minutes.
Sze Fei-Izzuddin pocketed US$70,300 (RM316,617) for winning the men’s doubles at the BWF Super 750 championship.
Zakry Latif and Fairuzizuan Tazari were the last men’s doubles pair from Malaysia to win the India Open title in 2010.
In today’s match, Sze Fei-Izzuddin started off the first game with extreme confidence and won in just 15 minutes.
However, the South Koreans, who won the Malaysia Open last week, came back strongly to take the second game easily.
The third game saw a completely revitalised Sze Fei-Izzuddin take control from the start with a huge lead, giving no chance for the Koreans to catch up until the end.
Today’s victory adds to the BWF Super Series titles Sze Fei-Izzuddin have won since last year, namely the Arctic, Japan and China Opens.
They were also the losing finalists at the season-ending World Tour Finals last December in Hangzhou, China.
